The Gate Recovery Programme
The Gate Recovery Programme was introduced in November 2021and is a community based recovery programme in Limerick helping people achieve lasting recovery from alcohol drugs and gambling while improving overall quality of life.
The gate recovery programme provides structured support for people seeking recovery while allowing them to remain at home and connected to their families , workplace and communities
It has a 97% Success rate for a person who engages in the programme
The programme is designed to support a person moving from a high risk substance use to low risk use or complete abstinence during the course of the programme.
It is designed so that people who use the programme and their families can see a significant improvement in a range of areas including their mental health, physical health , family relationships ,employment , education, study and social well being.
This is more than simple stopping drinking or using frugs rather it develops from the person “recovering capital” that is the personal social and community support needed to sustain a long term recovery
This is seen as being able to build trust with family members , returning to work and study developing healthier routines and establishing new friendships away from a life of drugs and alcohol.The Gate Recovery Programme is committed to a deep sense of equity , ensuring that people have access to high quality services and support regardless of where they live or thir particular circumstances . To this end the structure of the Gate Recovery Programme operates within a policy that emphasises person centered , recovery orientated , harm reduction , trauma informed and evidence based approach. The Gate Recovery treats addiction as a behavioural approach affecting all meaningful relationship , and the basic tenents of sensation, control and power as central themes. The Gate Recovery Programme approach seeks to draw from the many models of addiction and recognises that each model contributes to enabling the process of recovery . The Gate Recovery approach does not give preference to the Disease or illness model and as such is not a 12 step programme. While there are may pathway to recovery, The Gate Recovery Programme is an addiction specific approach developed for use within the community. It is focused on the persons natural environment and believes just.
